Welcome to a New Year at Toftcombs 2011

A warm welcome for the start of a new year at Toftcombs ....

The very snowy conditions towards the end of last year has now passed and we are beginning to see the bulbs starting to appear, with the start of spring.

Looking back, the winter weather never really was too disruptive as Toftcombs is very well placed .

You would never really have to deal with being be snowed in -- unless you wanted to be !! Looking at how pretty the mansion house is during those snowy winter scenes and having the comfort of warm coal fires it was very appealing for our guests ,who had booked over this time. They raved about their stays and how they enjoyed their time in the snowy grounds, building snow men, sledging etc - some even braved the conditions to do archery on the lawn with an ample dose of hot chocolate and winter woollies.

Looking forward booking enquiries have soared in January with many guests planning their holidays for the year ahead and we have been exceptionally busy with bookings for the up and coming year .

The summer months are pretty full up now -July is fully booked and we have only 2 weeks available in August - 15th -30th August. So if you think you may want to visit over the summer please let me know asap. The Edinburgh Festival is in full swing then so the mix of culture plus a lazy summer retreat can be very appealing.

With regard to the festive season -Christmas is still available however new year has also been booked. Over Christmas we also have some excellent caterers that can be booked to help with all the Christmas day preparations and cooking if needed..to ensure a stress free holiday.

Several weekends are still available for long weekend breaks for large groups to have a get away through out the year .

With many choosing to add in a host of extra activities , archery , golf, murder mystery dinners etc . The house is set to host some really action packed weekends with lots of fun and laughter.

MURDER MYSTERY WEEKEND AT TOFTCOMBS

TOFTCOMBS SURPRISE MURDER MYSTERY PARTY

Toftcombs played host to a fabulous and very elegant group of guests last weekend.

Sue booked Toftcombs to host her murder mystery dinner and an action packed weekend to surprise her husband on his birthday. Their family and friends as well as their 3 minature dachshunds and lab cross were all sworn to secrecy to keep the whole weekend a surprise

Isaac our butler and his staff were booked to serve drinks, canapes and cook dinner for the guests and they all had a fantastic birthday celebration.

The murder mystery theme continued through dinner.With each guest enjoying the entertainment alongside the sumptuous 4 course dinner

Archery took place on the lawn !

Sue showed everyone that a little dusting of snow !! could not put you off. Alba Adventures run these events for us at Toftcombs . Giving expert tuition as well as making it great fun. It was certainly a big hit with all the guests.

What a great way to celebrate in style with your nearest and dearest.

Sue commented on her stay with us .
"All in all a fantastic place to visit,and stay, everyone but everyone enjoyed themselves and the beds were so comfortable! By the end of the weekend we felt like it was our own house and felt affronted reading the visitor messages about other folk staying in 'our house'!"

Our bedroom page - new photos

New photos added to our bedroom gallery.

We are pleased to announce that we have now added new photos to our bedroom gallery. You can now get a great insight to the decor and designer fabrics used for each of our individual bedroom suites.

The room gallery also shows how each bedroom is configured so its its an ideal tool to use to decide which of your nearest and dearest will be given the room that suits them best. The bedroom featured in this photograph is the enormous master suite with huge four poster bed , ensuite bathroom and turret room . This room is called Talisker and was once described by a very well known Scottish wedding photographer "as the most stunning bridal suite he had ever worked in".

New Improvements at Toftcombs

New Improvements at Toftcombs .

Our new wall paper has now arrived for the upgrading of the back area near the laundry room - ie part of the west wing of Toftcombs.

The paper called Passage of Time will be used in conjunction with the Farrow and Ball colour Elephants breath to really enhance this area . After the summer busy period we set aside time at Toftcombs when guests are not staying to do odd jobs , painting and the wall papering will be done then too ( we would not want to spoil anyones enjoyment of the house ). The new wall paper will be completed by the end of September . Once finished I will post a new photograph... so watch this space...........
